Rural Youth Network AGM and Focus Group 'Is youth work rural proofed?'

As part of Rural Youth Network's ongoing committment to it's membership we would like to offer RYN members the opportunity to take part in our Focus Group 'Is youth work rural proofed?'. Taking place on Monday 30th March, directly after the RYN AGM, the Focus Group will explore how effectively current youth work approaches are adapting to the social and economic realties of rural communities and their young people. Delegates will discuss wide ranging aspects of the theme including:

• Are rural youth affairs marginal to the thinking behind current youth work initiatives based upon the urban Victoria Climbie tragedy?
• Are the targets associated with current youth work initiatives rural proofed?
• Does the DCSF recognise the scale of the challenge facing those workers who are seeking to arrest rural youth out-migration?
• Are local authorities/agencies adapting DCSF initiatives to effectively challenge out-migration, or simply applying a more generic urban model?
• What is the effective role of voluntary sector projects that seek to challenge out-migration, within current youth work models?

The Focus Group ultimately aims to identify examples of best practice to be shared amongst rural youth work practitioners and also to identify areas of weakness where current initiatives and practices may be failing to promote work to challenge rural youth out-migration and the issues that drive it.

Attendance at the AGM and Focus Group is FREE for all RYN members. Places for the Focus Group are strictly limited and in order to secure your place and help with the administration of the AGM and Focus Group we ask that all delegates who wish to attend complete the Focus Group Briefing and Booking Form. Confirmation of your place, joining instructions etc will then be forwarded to you in due course.
